London Rugby League

Teams

South London Storm operate 2 Open Age teams and an U18 Academy team.

RLCP

Our 1st team competes in the Rugby League Conference Premier Southern Division, playing against sides from across the South of England.

In 2005 the club were crowned RLCP South champions and reached the semis of the National competition, bowing out to eventual winners Bridgend.

2006 again saw the club crowned RLCP south champions however this time the club historically became the first London side to claim a national title when east lancashire Lions were beaten in the National final.

2007 saw a much changed side again reach the RLCP south final going down to St Albans.

2008 saw a new coach in Marcus Tobin and Captain Luke Bonnor. After a slow start the side rallied well to finish the regular season in second place. A semi final win over ipswich saw Storm face West London in the RLCP South Final. An epic battle finally saw Wests triumph 24-20.

In 2009 the club claimed the RLCP South minor premiership, winning all their regular season games. Ipswich were again defeated at the play off semi final stage before for the second season running West London came on top in a tense grand final by 26 points to 16.

2010 was a disappointing year on the field which saw Storm finish 5th in the Premier South missing out on the play-offs for the 1st time since 2005. 2010 proved also to be a turbulent year off the field; Storm made a temporary move from their long term home at Streatham & Croydon RFC to Mitcham RFC.

London League

South London Storm 'A' will compete in London League in 2011

The London League was founded in 1965 and throughout most of its history ran throughout the traditional winter season. However, with Rugby League increasingly becoming a summer sport the switch was made in 2000. The competition now works as a development league, operating one level below the ever-expanding and highly successful Rugby League Conference.

2006 saw Storm crowned London League champions. Since then the club have reached the play-offs in 2007, 2008 and 2009. 2009 saw the team fall at the semi final stage going down 24-20 to Hemel Stags 'A'.

The 'A' team competed in the 2010 Rugby League Conference South East Regional where they finished a respectable 5th place.

South London Storm Academy

The South London Storm Academy team were formed in 2009 to provide a vital ink between the London Junior League at under 16's level and senior Rugby League.

The South London Storm Academy team compete in the London Under 18's competition and in 2009 were crowned champions in their debut year, seeing of Greenwich 42-26 in the grand final.

2009 also saw captain Saner Hasan, Billy Osborne and Alex Ingarfield selected to represent London & the South while Ingarfield also represented the England Lionhearts under 18's against both Wales and Scotland.

The academy are always on the look out for keen players between the ages of 16-18. for further information contact head coach Mick Gray on 07413861574 or mikiig@ This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
